Instructor

2018. The Social Determinants of Health and Illness in the U.S., Rice University.

In the Spring of 2018 I will be instructing a Freshman Writing Intensive Seminar (FWIS) at Rice University. The substantive content of the course will explore patterns and explanations of unequal health outcomes across five key status characteristics: socioeconomic status, race/ethnic identity, nativity, gender identity and sexual orientation. The course is also designed to enhance and develop writing and oral communication skills among first-year college students, including effective strategies for reading college-level course materials and how to approach each step of the writing process.
